On the Water

Don’t want to have to find your own way around the islands? Charter a boat for a worry-free afternoon of sightseeing, snorkeling, fishing or scuba diving. Decide whether you would enjoy the speed and agility of a powerboat or the peace and tranquility of sailing. Your experienced captain and crew will allow you to sit back and enjoy your day to the fullest.
Rent a dinghy and paddle around. Pack a lunch, sunscreen and towels and take off on your own adventure. Hop from beach to beach to find the best spots for snorkeling and fishing.
See St. John the way nature intended with on a guided eco-tour. An experienced local will show you and your group the way as you hike, bike, kayak, or snorkel in some of the most ecologically fascinating areas of the islands. St. John is home to some of the best fishing in the world. The Virgin Islands hold 21 world records for angling and are great for experts and beginners alike. Charter a fishing tour, rent your own boat, or fish right off the beach. Some of the common catches include marlin, bonefish, and snook.
There are 120 unique, individual islands and cays that make up the Virgin Islands. Only eight of these are inhabited while the remaining are deserted island paradises waiting to be explored. Jet skis and kayaks are usually rented by the ½ hour. They both are available for single or double riders. The limited amount of jet skis that are available are usually rented as part of a guided tour. Some hotels offer kayaks for rental which are a fun and independent way to explore the coastlines.
Learn to Sail
Always wanted to learn how to sail? St. John and St. Thomas each offer sailing lessons for everyone, from beginners to advanced.
Whether you’re certified or need to be, St. John is a wonderful place to scuba. Explore colorful coral reefs while you swim along with sea turtles, manta rays, clownfish and much more. Scuba operators offer lessons for beginner certifications as well as advanced levels of certification.
Snorkeling and Super Snorkeling
Whether you’d rather view the underwater world while snorkeling along the top of the ocean or while super snorkeling along the bottom, St. John is the place to be. Enjoy calm seas and warm waters as you check out all sorts of amazing sea life and interesting underwater features. For those of you who haven’t heard of super snorkeling, it is a relatively new way to snorkel that includes a long hose and pump which provides oxygen to adventurers deep beneath the surface.

Migrating whales can usually be seen in the seas surrounding the Virgin Islands between the months of December and March. Rent a boat to explore yourself or join a guided tour for educational information and guidance.
In The Air
Check out the tropical paradise from high above the ocean surface as you glide freely through the air, pulled behind a powerboat. Rides are typically sold in 15-minute increments. Go alone or ride with a friend or family member.
Charter a small plane or helicopter to get a birds-eye-view of the Virgin Islands while your captain points out interesting sights and focal points. Rides typically last anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour and cost between $99 to $120.

Horseback Riding Tours
